Lisa Hathorn is a writer, producer, creator and digital media pioneer.

Lisa began her career in television producing The Big Breakfast for the Seven Network in Queensland. She later became Executive Producer for Seven’s online and New Media Division, where she designed and launched the Seven Network’s national digital presence, with oversight of the network’s entertainment and Seven News properties.

Lisa left network television to develop her own projects, including a range of writing and production projects.

Her first children’s book, No! Never! was the 2021 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Early Childhood Book of the Year. No! Never! has also won many other commendations and awards: shortlisted for the Panda Awards (international schools Asia); shortlisted KOALA and YABBA and KROC children’s choice awards; winner of the Society of Women Writers’ Awards 2022.

Lisa is a passionate advocate for children’s reading and writing through tactile as well as digital media. She sees poetry as crucial for intellectual and emotional development, as does her writer mother Libby Hathorn whom she attests to as a major influence. Lisa can often be found speaking at schools, libraries and wherever good books are sold.

She lives by the sea with her two girls where she enjoys her craft, currently working on two picture books.
