Georgie Steele
Georgie Steele is an author, copywriter and content creator living in Meanjin. Her passion for writing developed during her career as a school Speech and Drama tutor, when she fell in love with creating original plays and watching them come to life on stage.
As part of her Master’s Degree in Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Queensland (UQ), Georgie wrote a thesis on deconstructing the ‘Chosen One’ in children’s literature, from which The Memory Keepers sparked. She has a keen interest in exploring heroines who aren’t destined to be heroines and celebrating the beauty of being ‘ordinary’ in a society that demands the extraordinary.
Georgie currently works in a digital marketing agency and runs a freelance copywriting business on the side. She loves working with different brands to help tell their authentic stories through captivating copy and sparkling content.
When she’s not writing, Georgie can be found with her two miniature dachshunds Flossie and Percy and a children’s book in hand.
The Memory Keepers is Georgie's first novel.
