Esme Wilmot

Esme is a metallurgist and writer of speculative and contemporary fiction. Her favourite genres include thriller, mystery, horror and comedy (on the latter, the darker, the better).

Esme was selected to participate in the 2019 KSP 1st Edition Retreat, the 2020 Four Centres Emerging Writers Program, a 2020 KSP Fellowship and the 2021 ASA Award Mentorship Program for Writers and Illustrators. Her work has appeared in the Underground Writers Zine, Spillwords, Short Édition, Night Parrot Press’s Three Can Keep a Secret anthology and KSP’s Deceased Estates anthology. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the Love to Read Local Flashscapes! Competition and the KSP Spooky Story Competition. Her thriller manuscript, Parallel, was shortlisted for the 2024 ASA/HQ Fiction Prize.

When she isn’t reading and writing, Esme does hip-hop dancing and looks after her two children and garden in Perth, Western Australia. She has been known to take notes (for story ideas) during parties and dinner engagements and can sometimes be found combing flea markets for unexpected treasure.
