Dave Reardon

Dave Reardon spent a decade chasing politicians, billionaires and crocodiles for some of Australia's biggest newspapers, The West Australian, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald.

After leaving the media, Dave was appointed director of a youth organisation, producing music, touring internationally and staging all-ages events for up to 8000 young people.

Dave and his wife Ann later moved their young family to Sydney and created Reardon Media. The company produces books, websites and one of the world's most popular lifestyle YouTube channels, How To Cook That.

Dave and Ann both feature prominently on the channel, which has 5 million subscribers and almost 1 billion views on YouTube alone.

In 2016, the company published Dave's YA historical fiction, The Deep Enders. The book performed well and was optioned by a film production company.

US publisher Mango picked up the rights and published a new edition in 2021. The Deep Enders won a 2024 Tome Literature Award and the US organisation flew Dave to Atlanta to speak to 2000 young book enthusiasts.

The sequel, The Deep Enders: Deadline, was published by Mango in 2024 and became the #1 new release in YA military historical fiction. A third book is planned for 2025.

The series has garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews from publications such as Buzz Words, Magpies Magazine, The Australian Newspaper and the Historical Novel Society. It has also been endorsed by successful authors, including  #1 New York Times bestseller Jennifer A. Nielsen.
