Best-selling Australian author Darry Fraser writes stories of mystery and mayhem, of loves and lives of ordinary people in nineteenth Australia, set against the backdrop of historical events and iconic landscapes. 

Growing up, she was amazed at how few Australian historical fiction stories there were, so decided to find the adventure in it herself. Writing since she was a child, she lives her stories, walks in her characters’ footsteps, feels what they feel, the dust, the dirt, the triumphs, the pain. 

A lifetime ago, she lived on the banks of the River Murray. Entranced by it from the first moment, it features strongly in many of her books. Leaving Victoria, she spent years in Central Australia then more years on rugged Kangaroo Island in the Southern Ocean before moving to the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. She’s once again living by the mighty Murray, where new stories leap from the landscape and the pages of the past.

Her faithful hound, a black Kelpie x Border collie wonder-dog named Hamish is always by her side.
